Senilia is one of a kind lampshades collection made from the by-product of beer and coffee’s silver-skin. Waste materials coming from beer brewing and coffee production are given new life combining mechanical extrusion techniques with handcrafting. Long tubular shapes turn into irregular lighting pieces that are fully biodegradable and recyclable. The collection embodies a conceptual approach to materiality in terms of its essence, exploring the meaning of aging. All living organisms obey natural laws and are as such subject to constant change. As our body structure alters with time, in the same way, the wrinkle and bumped light shapes aim to reflect those alterations. Regardless of whatever human action tries to influence the natural life cycle, it will turn out a temporary convenience. The synergy between human's constructed machines and the random action of the material are emblematic. The evidence of this relentless passing of time is made visible through surface imperfections unfolding beauty.
